One of the most common problems Samsung Galaxy S6 (#Samsung #GalaxyS6) owners reported is a blurry #camera. Some also said that it fails to auto focus or takes a long time to do so. Actually, these problems are the same but worded differently. The reason why the photo is blurry is because the Camera failed to properly focus on the subject for some reason.
I addressed five camera-related problems in this post. So, if you’ve contacted us before regarding this problem, you may want to try to check the other issues I cited here. For S6 Edge and Edge+ owners, the troubleshooting or advices I provided will also work for your devices.
If you found this page because you were trying to find a solution for your problem, then I suggest you visit the troubleshooting page we setup for the Galaxy S6. It contains all problems we’ve already addressed. Find issues related to yours and try the solutions we provided. If they won’t work for you, then contact us but make sure to provide as much information as possible.

Fixing blurry camera on Galaxy S6
Problem 1: When I click on my camera to take pics, everything is blurry. The plastic piece has been removed, I’ve reset everything to default settings, yet I can’t seem to fix the problem. The first few times it happened, I thought maybe the lens was dirty and would wipe it off. Anyway, the more time that goes by, meaning the longer I have the phone, the longer it is now taking for the camera to come into focus. It’s even more frustrating having kids and wanting to get those candid, spur of the moment photos, and I can’t. Please let me know what I can do to resolve this problem…I love the Samsung camera!
Problem 2: Every time I open my camera it’s all blurry. My phone has never been wet before or anything wrong. At first I thought it was normal but then my friend got the same phone and his doesn’t do it. I tried turning off my phone, resetting it and nothing. I’m getting really tired of having to wait till the blurriness gets off.Direct marketing wiki.
Troubleshooting: As long as the phone doesn’t have liquid or physical damage, then it can be fixed. Many have been complaining about it and the most common fix is this:
SmartDeblur 1.27 Free Version. SmartDeblur comes in two flavors, this is the now discontinued version 1 from 2012 which has been made open source, version 2 is shareware. This version is able to process three types of image blurring, which are out of focus, motion and Gaussian blur. A z-stack of 32 images (z = 16 at the optimal focal plane, 15 images above the focal plane, and 16 below) was taken for each of the 768 fields of view (384 wells, 2 fields of view per well). The overall strategy is to build a convolutional neural network that takes out-of-focus images as input and generates in-focus images as output.
Without moving the camera or adjusting any settings, move the focus point to an object mid-way in the image and refocus. Take the second exposure. Again, without changing anything, refocus on an object at the farthest point of the intended image. Take the third exposure. Reason to not respect is you can play back the images faster at a lower resolution. Some apps give the option to respect retina resolution, the DJIgo4 doesn't. The first time I looked at images on DJIgo4 from my Spark, I was shocked as everything looks soft and out of focus and zooming in makes it look worse.
Open the Camera app.
Go to Settings.
Disable Smart Optical Image Stabilization.

For units with cameras that have been working fine since day 1 but gradually became blurry, just try to reset the Camera settings to default by clearing its cache and data. Don’t worry, your pictures will not be deleted when you do this.
From any Home screen, tap Apps.
Tap Settings.
Scroll to ‘APPLICATIONS,’ then tap Application manager.
Swipe right to the ALL screen.
Scroll to and tap Camera.
Tap Clear cache.
Tap Clear data button, then OK.
Galaxy S6 units whose cameras have been fuzzy since day 1 and if the first procedure didn’t work, then try to check if the protective film hasn’t been removed yet.
If all else fails, have the phone check but before doing so, try doing a master reset to rule out the possibility that it’s just a firmware glitch and to clear off all your personal information.
Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys together.
When the device powers on and displays ‘Power on logo’, release all keys and the Android icon will appear on the screen.
Wait until the Android Recovery Screen appears after about 30 seconds.
Using the Volume Down key, highlight the option, ‘wipe data/factory reset’ and press the Power key to select it.
Press the Vol Down button again until the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted and then press the Power key to select it.
After the reset is complete, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and hit the Power key to restart the phone.
Related Problem: My camera will focus for pictures but once i take the picture it turns out blurry. I also overall have low connection speed.
Galaxy S6 camera stays on for a limited time
Problem: Camera only stays on for limited time. short period around 2 minutes. I want it on permanently! Or at least a way of extending this ridiculously short period with no apparent setting to adjust it… Any ideas?
Troubleshooting: The first thing you have to do is clear the cache and data of the Camera app to see if the problem is with the settings. Doing this procedure will reset the settings of the app and might fix the problem. Follow the instructions above.
After clearing both the cache and the data and the problem remained, it’s time to isolate the problem. Boot your phone in safe mode and try to use the Camera there.
Turn off your Galaxy S6 Edge.
Press and hold the Power key.
When ‘Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge’ appears, immediately release the Power key and then press and hold the Volume Down button.
Continue holding the Volume Down button until the phone finishes the restart.
When you see Safe Mode on the lower left corner of the screen, release the button.
If the problem persisted even in this mode, you need to do the master reset (instructions above), otherwise, find the app that’s causing the problem and uninstall it. You might want to start with apps that use the camera and its accessories.
Galaxy S6 can no longer send videos through text
Question: I used to be able to send videos through text messaging and now all of a sudden I can’t. I can send pictures but not videos. The error says the file is too large and I have to resize it. I have tested it by taking a 2 second video and tried sending it to myself and it still says it is too large. I hope this can be fixed.
Answer: Every carrier or service provider has a size limit for pictures and videos to be transmitted through text. So, if you were prompted about the video being “too large,” then it’s too large. The size limit actually varies from carrier to carrier. So, let’s say that your provider allows its subscribers to attach media up to 2MB, if the receiving end is only allowed to send or receive 1MB (or less), the message may be sent from your end but won’t be received. In your situation, it seems your provider allows only very small amount of data to be attached to text messages. That being said, there’s no fix for this. You have to talk with your provider to know more. For Sprint, I believe you are only allowed to send 1.10Mb MMS.
How to transfer photos from Galaxy S6 to PC
Problem: I need to know how to get pictures from the gallery on my Samsung Galaxy S6 to transfer to my home computer a HP Pavillion 400PC via USB. I need step by step instructions please. Thank you.
Instructions: Sure, no problem. Just follow these steps:
Using the original USB cable, connect your phone to your computer.
If the computer couldn’t recognize your phone, visit Samsung’s website and download the driver for your device. [link]
Once you’ve downloaded the executable file, install it to your computer so it could recognize your phone.
Assuming you’ve successfully made your computer to recognize your phone, you will now have access to folders in your device.
Using your computer’s file explorer, browse through the DCIM folder in your phone and copy the pictures and videos you want to transfer and paste it to a certain folder in your computer.
I hope this helps.
Can’t open Camera settings on Galaxy S6
Problem: My camera will not let me see my camera settings. When gear symbol is touched, it flashes and disappears. I’ve tried safe mode and restarting with no luck. I love reading your posts and appreciate your time. Thank you for your time.
Troubleshooting: It’s not a common problem but some of our readers reported this kind of problem. It’s not exclusive to Galaxy S6. If this problem just occurred out of nowhere without apparent reason, clearing the cache and the data of the Camera app will fix it. However, if it started immediately after an update, then wiping the cache partition will do the trick.
Wipe Cache Partition
Turn off the device.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key, and Power key.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key.
When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight ‘wipe cache partition.’
Press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

It can be a little tricky to get the crisp image that you want. Occasionally things don’t go the way you want them to. Even just a little bit of a nudge can make the image go completely out of focus. Our How to Fix Out-of-Focus Pictures with all Methods article will be demonstrating a couple of different ways that you can use to sharpen up your image. Give it a scroll! We’re going to be showing you how to fix out of focus pictures through programs like photoshop, lightroom, fotophire focus, etc. Hopefully, by the end, you’ll know which program is the one for you.
Part 1. How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos in Photoshop
The first product that we’re going to be introducing, is actually one that you have probably heard about before. Adobe Photoshop CC is the graphics editor. A majority of professionals use this program to edit their photographs. The only drawbacks on the product is the complexity of the interface and the expensive monthly or yearly premium memberships — which can lead to a very empty bank account.
How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos in Photoshop
Step 1: Launch Adobe Photoshop CC
The demo starts by downloading the program. You can do so by accessing it through their official website. The installation process does take a couple of hours. You will need to wait for the bulky software to download and sign up for a Creative Cloud account. The best time to do this is overnight. Once the program has been downloaded and installed, just open up Adobe Photoshop CC through the Desktop Shortcut.
Step 2: Import Image
Next, you’re going to import the image. In order to do this, you’re going to have to click the “Open…” button on the main hub. This will prompt a windows popup where you can locate the out of focus picture that you want to fix.
Step 3: Sharpen > Shake Reduction
Now, we can begin the editing process. In order to fix out of focus pictures with Photoshop, you’re going to have to use a filter. Start the process by clicking on the “Filter” tab. Locate the following in the drop-down menu to open the blur editor: Sharpen > Shake Reduction..
Step 4: Fix Out-of-Focus Pictures
The main editor will look like this (refer to the image below.) You can change a couple of things using the Blur Trace Bounds slider, the Source Noise option, Smoothing slider, and the Artifact Suppression slider. When you’re done, you can continue on to the next step. Smooze 1 2 4.
The Amount slider is for controlling the overall sharpness of the image.
As for the Radius slider, this is for adjusting the textures of the pixels — making them either sharper or smoother.
Sep 5: Save and Go
Once you’re satisfied with the way your image looks, all you have to do is save! Click the “File” tab on the top menu and locate the “Save…” option. Extra: If you want to save as you edit, you can use the short-key Ctrl + S.
Part 2. How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos in Lightroom
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is a more intuitive version of the Photoshop CC. It has a lot of the same features, but it presents it in a way that is far more comprehensible.
How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos in Lightroom
Step 1: Launch Lightroom
In order to begin the process, we’re going to have to download Lightroom. This can be done through their official website. The installation does come at a price. You’re going to have to pay a monthly payment in order to use the Lightroom CC. You’re also going to have to sign up for an Creative Cloud account — this process may take a couple of hours and is best done overnight.
Step 2: Develop Module
To begin the process, you’re going to have to import the image and locate it in what they call the “Develop” module Once you’ve located your image, we can begin editing.
Step 3.1: Sharpening
Our first step in fixing out of focus photos with lightroom involves precision sharpening. You can find the tools to do this under the Details drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the screen. There is a sharpening tool under this drop-down menu with a slider called the Amount slider.
Amount: The Amount slider is made for adjusting the overall definition of your photo.
Step 3.2:Sharpening II
There are two other sharpening sliders under the Amount slider. These are:
Radius: Which will control the size of the pixels in the image.
Detail: Adjusting the detail slider will clarify the textures of the overall image.
Part 3. Comparison Between Photoshop and Lightroom
Now that we’ve done a thorough demonstration of how to fix out of focus pictures with both the photoshop and lightroom, we can compare the two programs. Let’s do a quick break down of each.
Photoshop
We’re going to be starting with the Adobe Photoshop CC. As mentioned previously, this program is the best known graphics editor out there. It’s used by professional photographers and illustrators alike. However, there are downsides to the overall function of the software. For example:
Photoshop CC is a high-level program that requires years of training to master.
It also features a bulky software that only the more powerful computers can handle.
Finally, the cost of the product adds up over the years, as they only have monthly/yearly premium memberships available.
The image shown above is the result of our test-run. As you can see, the image was in fact sharpened to a degree. However, because the program is so difficult to use, it’s hard to get the crips image that we were looking for. It ended up being a bit muddy and over-enhanced.
Lightroom
The Adobe Lightroom CC is definitely a lot more intuitive than the regular Photoshop. As such, it would be much easier for a beginner to use and master this program. However, we are still looking at a couple of flaws. Like their shared flaw, which is — in order to use the program, you’re going to have to pay a monthly fee of $9.99.
This is the result of our How to Fix Out of Focus Pictures with Lightroom demo. As you can see, the photo was enhanced to produce a better quality image.
Photoshop vs Lightroom:
It was much easier to fix out of focus pictures with Lightroom. As such, the quality ended up being a lot better — even though the amount spent playing around with the features had been the same for both programs. You can see the difference yourself with the before and after shots from each image.
Part 4. A Better Way to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos on Desktop
Both the Photoshop and the Lightroom produced stellar results, but there were a couple of things about the programs that could have been amended. That is why we’re going to be introducing you to a better way to fix out of focus photos on desktop. In order to this, we’re going to demo a product called Fotophire Focus. Here are just a couple of things that this intuitive graphics editor can do.
Fix blurry photos in one click.

How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos with Fotophire Focus
Step 1: Launch Fotophire Focus
First, download the demo-version or purchase the Fotophire focus through the Wondershare Official Website. Unlike Photoshop CC and Lightroom, the Fotophire Focus only requires a one-time payment for the full license. That means, that you won’t have to sign up for a monthly or yearly premium membership.
Step 2: Import Image
Import the out of focus image that you want to fix. To do this, click the “Open…” button on the main hub and locate the picture on the windows popup.
Step 3: One-Click Sharpen
You can start it off with the one-click sharpen. It really is as easy as it sounds. You just have to click the “Sharpen!” module below the PRESETS drop-down menu. As you can see below, it automatically fixes out of focus pictures.
Step 4: Amount & Radius
The next part involves sharpness sliders — which can be found under the SHARPNESS module. There are two that you can adjust:
Amount: This slider will change the overall sharpness of the image.
Radius: The Radius slider is for texture, it regulates how detailed the pixels in the image are.
Step 5: Adjustment
If you’re still not happy with the overall look of the image, you can make a couple of adjustments through the ADJUSTMENTS module. A couple of things that you can adjust are: Temperature, Hue, Brightness, Shadows, Highlights, Contrast, Clarity, and Saturation.
Step 5: Save and Go

Part 5. How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos Online
As a bonus, we’ll do a quick demo on how to fix out of focus photos online. There are lots of websites that you can use to fix your out of focus photos, but today, we’re going to show you how to do it with the Lunapic online editor.
How to Fix Out-of-Focus Photos Online
Step 1: Visit the Lunapic website & Import
If you want to follow along with the demo, you can do so by visiting the Lunapic website. There’s no welcome screen so we’re going to go straight with the importation of the image. Just click on the “Choose File” button on the top of the screen.
Step 2: Adjust Focus
In order to fix out of focus pictures with the Lunapic, you’re going to have to adjust the slider (as shown below.) Doing so will automatically enhance the photograph for you. Just make sure to click the big blue Apply button when you’re done!
Step 3: Save
Remember to save when you’re done! You can do so by clicking the blue Save text on the bottom of the screen.
Conclusion:
We introduced a variety of methods to fix out-of-focus pictures today. However, we still believe that there could only be one true winner. In our opinion, the most helpful way to fix out-of-focus photos has to be the Fotophire Focus. It’s intuitive and easy to learn, but even better — it won’t hurt your bank account over the years. You’ll need only to pay a one-time payment for the full license. Doing this will get you all of its wonderful features, without any extra cost to you.
